Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to hire a skip?

The cost of our skips depends on the type of skip you want to hire. It does not depend on the length of hire, although a typical skip hire is less than two weeks. If you need your skip for longer than four weeks, extra rental charges may apply.

What does the price include?

The price quoted includes the hire of the skip, as well as delivery and collection. It does not include any additional equipment, permits or subsequent charges that might be incurred.

How can I order a skip?

You can order your skip in any of our branches, alternatively if you have an existing trading account, give your local branch a call.

How soon can I have my skip?

You can have your skip within 48 hours at the very least, however in most cases we can deliver the skip the very next day if you order it before 11am. Please note that there must be access at all times for the skip to be delivered or collected. If any restrictions resulting to the skip not being delivered or collected, you may be charged for the wasted journey.

I am not registered with Selco, can I still hire a skip?

If you aren’t yet registered with us, you must do so before you can hire any of our products. Sign up for a trade account today and you can be hiring from us in no time!

How long can I keep my skip for?

4 weeks is the maximum skip hire duration, any duration after may incur rental charges.

What kind of waste can I put in the skip?

You can put any sort of general waste in your skips, including builders waste however, you should not put mattresses, TV’s, monitor screens or any other electronics that are harmful to dispose of. This also applies to hazardous waste, including gas bottles, asbestos, cement, plasterboard and paint tins & paint residue.

Can I put different types of waste into a skip?

You can mix different types of waste in the same skip, providing you have the right skip size for those waste types. For example, heavy goods waste can only be added to skips sizes of 8 yards and under.

How high can the skip be loaded?

Skips need to be level loaded – any oversized items may be removed to make safe the load. If your skip is overloaded, the driver collecting the skip may refuse collection and extra charges may apply to the wasted journey.

Can I place my skip on a public road?

You can put your skip on a public road as long as you have a council permit which you must request at least 3-5 working days before the skip is delivered.

Can I order online?

Unfortunately you cannot order your skip online.
