1. Hire

HOW LONG IS THE STANDARD HIRE FOR?

The standard hire for tools is 7 days. Plant equipment can be hired on a long-term basis. Please see in-branch for details or give us a call.

2. Deposits

WHAT ITEMS DO I NEED TO LEAVE A DEPOSIT ON?

Deposits need to be provided for all plant hire items. For more information, please see in-branch or give us a call.

3. Insurance

WHAT DOES THE ‘Included’ INSURANCE COVER?

Selco’s Hire insurance provides:

  • Immediate-start cover for all tool hire items
  • £100,000 cover limit

Selco Hire insurance is available to credit account and cash customers. To find out more, please visit our support pages.

4. Delivery & Collection

HOW FAR WILL YOU DELIVER & COLLECT PLANT HIRE ITEMS?

We will deliver & collect plant hire items to sites that are within the trading area of your local branch. Please see in-branch for details or give us a call.

5. Damage and Loss

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DAMAGE THE HIRE ITEM?

If you damage the Hire item, you must let us know immediately. If the Hire Goods are returned damaged, you may be liable for the costs to repair the item, as well as rental of the hire item until repairs have been completed and the item is ready for re-hire.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I Lose THE HIRE ITEM?

If you lose the Hire item, you must let us know immediately. You may be responsible for paying to replace the lost item, as well as any additional costs we incur due to the loss of the item.

6. Cleaning

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T CLEAN THE HIRE ITEM?

If the Hire Goods are returned unclean, you may be liable for the costs to clean the item, as well as the cost of the rental of the hire item until cleaning has been completed and the item is ready for re-hire.

7. How to Hire

HOW DO I HIRE AN ITEM FROM YOU?

  1. To hire you must first apply for a free trade card. Bring along proof of business to your nearest or most conveniently located Selco branch and a member of staff will be happy to take your details and set up the account for you then and there so you can hire your equipment straight away. Click here to find your local branch.
  1. Complete the online application form here and attach your proof of business.
  1. Send a hard copy of your application to Selco Builders Warehouse, FREEPOST RTCY-CHJG-TKYK, Support Centre, Boundary House, 2 Wythall Green Way, Wythall, Birmingham, B47 6LW. Once received, your trade account will be processed and posted to you within two working days.

WHAT FORMS OF DOCUMENTATION ARE ACCEPTED AS PROOF OF BUSINESS?

Any item from the following list will be accepted as proof of business:

Business Card Letterhead Compliment Slip
Certificate of Incorporation Company Invoice/Order Form VAT Certificate
Tax Related Document CSCS Card Company Bank Statement

8. Selco Trade Card

CAN I USE MY TRADE CARD IN ALL SELCO BRANCHES OR JUST IN THE ONE I REGISTERED WITH?

Yes – you can use your trade card in all branches of Selco. To find a local Selco Builders Warehouse in your area use our branch finder tool.

DO I NEED MY TRADE CARD WHEN I VISIT SELCO?

On each visit to Selco, whether you make a purchase or not, you must complete the signing in book found at the entrance of the branch with your name, business name and account number. When making a purchase, at the checkout, show your trade card to the member of staff serving you before paying for your goods.

CAN ANYONE BE A SELCO CUSTOMER?

No, not everyone. To get a Selco Trade Card you have to be a bona fide trades person or business owner, and will need to provide us with your proof of business. See below for what is accepted as a proof of business.

9.Credit Accounts

HOW DO I APPLY FOR A CREDIT ACCOUNT

Download a credit account application form by clicking here. Complete the form and return it to the Selco accounts team, using our freepost address: Credit Control, Selco Builders Warehouse, FREEPOST RTCY-CHJG-TKYK, Support Centre, Boundary House, 2 Wythall Green Way, Wythall, Birmingham, B47 6LW.

Please note that applications for credit accounts will be subject to a credit search and references.

10.Privacy & Your Information

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE INFORMATION I PROVIDE?

Any information held by Selco Hire regarding your company is for internal use only and remains strictly confidential. However, from time to time we may use it to contact you regarding goods or services that may interest you. If you do not wish to be contacted with offers, please write to Selco Support Centre at Support Centre, Boundary House, 2 Wythall Green Way, Wythall, Birmingham, B47 6LW or use our online contact form, and we will remove your information from the contact database.

11.Payment

WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

Selco accept payment in the following forms:

  • Cash
  • Credit/Debit Card – Visa/Visa Electron/Maestro/MasterCard (please note we do not accept American Express Cards)
  • Selco Credit Account

12. Terms & Conditions

WHERE CAN I GET A COPY OF THE SELCO HIRE TERMS & CONDITIONS?

You will have been given a copy of the terms and conditions when you last used the Selco Hire service. However, if you would like an additional copy, please refer to the terms and conditions page of the website here, or contact us and we will send you a copy in the post.
